City Eyes Peavey Plaza Revitalization Anew
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Minneapolis announced that it is accepting proposals for revitalizing Peavey Plaza in the downtown area, though a grand re-opening is at least three years away.
The plaza was built in 1974 and has since lapsed into disrepair. Both the fountain and the pool have been dry because of cracked walls, and the clock hasn't been showing accurate times for many months.
The city is working to complete a "historic structures report," which will then help them renovate the area without running afoul of any restrictions owing to its status on the National Register of Historic Places.
The city has been attempting to reconstruct the plaza since 2011.
