Chris Cook Attorney Talks Adrian Peterson Case

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Adrian Peterson is facing not only a criminal prosecution in Texas. but punishment by the NFL.

Just two weeks ago, the league announced a new domestic abuse policy. That announcement came as the league faced criticism that their initial two-game suspension of Ray Rice was far too lenient.

Among the evidence against Peterson are photographs that show wounds on his 4-year-old son.

But two years ago, despite photographic evidence that Vikings player Chris Cook had choked his girlfriend, he was a acquitted by a Hennepin County jury of felony abuse.

The attorney who won that victory is David Valentini, and has represented a number of other Vikings on criminal charges.

Valentini spoke with WCCO-TV's Esme Murphy about the Peterson case on Sunday morning.

"The question will be the reasonableness of his actions," he said. "That will be what the jury has to consider."
