Authorities Still Investigating Hit-And-Run Death Of 10-Year-Old
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities are still investigating the hit-and-run that killed a 10-year-old girl Friday night.
Ten-year-old Caylin Donovan was walking alone Friday just before 8 p.m. on Highway 18 in Aitkin County when it happened.
State troopers say the driver of the car that hit her is nowhere to be found. They were back at the scene Saturday taking pictures and trying to piece together what happened.
WCCO spoke to a man who was headed up north for a weekend getaway. He's a former first responder and stopped to give Donovan CPR.
"We thought it was a person who hit a deer because there was a vehicle I believe, or two vehicles that were stopped, and a guy was standing out by the road and he started waving at us, so I slowed down," said Tony Stock. "We got closer and we seen it was a person. So I stopped and I got my medical bag and ran out there."
The State Patrol is looking for the driver of a white Ford pickup pulling a white camper they believe may have witnessed the crash. If you have any information, call the State Patrol.
A GoFundMe page has been set up for the 10-year-old's funeral expenses.
