Casfesjian's Carousel Opens At Como Park Zoo

ST. PAUL (WCCO) -- One of Minnesota's summertime icons is back in business.

The sweet calliope music of Casfesjian's Carousel is in the air outside the main gate of the Como Park Zoo in Saint Paul. This is the 16th year the carousel has operated in Como Park. For more than 70 years, the carousel was located about a mile west at the Minnesota State Fairground. The ride was rescued from auction in the late 1980's and relocated to its own pavilion near the zoo.

The carousel marked its 100th birthday last year. Another summertime favorite at Como Park is making its warm weather debut this weekend.

The century-old Schiffman Fountain was uncovered and the water turned on earlier this week.
