Burnsville Man Charged With Murder In Fourth Of July Shooting
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A Burnsville man has been charged with murder in the shooting death of a teen over the Fourth of July holiday.
Dejon Frazier, 18, has been charged with second-degree murder and attempted second degree murder.
According to the Hennepin County Attorney's Office, just after 2 a.m. on July 5 Frazier was arguing with 16-year-old Sabrae M. Mcalester, of St. Louis Park, by a bus shelter near Hennepin Avenue and Fourth Street.
Upon arrival, officers saw a group of people running from the area and found two men with gunshot wounds.
According to Hennepin County officials, Frazier was suspected of shooting Mcalester and another man, who had just been coming out of a bar.
Further investigation of surveillance videos and interviews with five witnesses confirmed Frazier was the shooter. A gun later recovered that had been near Frazier is thought to be the weapon used after ballistic tests.
Mcalester later died as a result of his injuries. The other man was wounded in the thigh.
Frazier is expected to make his first court appearance on Wednesday. Prosecutors are asking for a bail of $1 million.
