Burning Interest In Medical Pot Means Bigger Venue

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Intense interest in Minnesota's new medical marijuana program has prompted the state to move a Friday conference for potential manufacturers to a larger venue.

Friday's conference has been moved from a room in the state Department of Revenue building near the Capitol to a ballroom at the Minnesota History Center.

It starts at 9 a.m.

Minnesota's law calls for two manufacturers to be chosen to grow and cultivate the drug.

Applications open in September, and the Minnesota Department of Health hopes to select producers by Dec. 1. Patients are expected to be able to get medical marijuana starting July 1, 2015.
