Report: Minneapolis Band Sues Bruno Mars Over 'Uptown Funk'

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A Minneapolis band is reportedly suing Bruno Mars and many others, claiming that the mega-hit "Uptown Funk" ripped off their jam from 1983.

Mars and "Uptown Funk" producer Mark Ronson are among the named listed in the lawsuit from the Minneapolis Sound-era band College, TMZ reports.

While College has one surviving member, he is demanding a slice of the enormous profits generated by "Uptown Funk" for himself an the estates of the bands other members.

Mars' 2014 smash broke records atop the Billboard singles chart, and the YouTube video has garnered nearly 2 billion views to date.

College is saying that "Uptown Funk" is similar in rhythm, structure and melody to the band's song "Young Girls."

You be the judge.
