Brooklyn Park Woman, 21, Arrested For Giving Beer To Underage Girl
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Brooklyn Park police arrested a 21-year-old woman for allegedly providing alcohol to a 16-year-old girl earlier this month.
According to police, staff at Brunswick Zone called the police department on Jan. 1 reporting that a woman of legal age gave beer to an apparent juvenile.
When police arrived, they learned that Alexis Nicole Campbell of Brooklyn Park initially denied giving alcohol to the girl. However, after talking with the juvenile girl and Brunswick Zone employees, the officers arrested Campbell for furnishing alcohol to a minor.
In a statement, Brooklyn Park police say they are taking cases of underage drinking seriously and will investigate to find the provider.
"Underage drinking is a concern because we know it's not just about kids taking a few sips of alcohol," their statement reads. "In Brooklyn Park a significant number of crimes involve juveniles who consume alcohol. Cutting off the source of alcohol and stopping underage drinking is an important way to reduce juvenile crime and violence."
Providing alcohol to a minor is a gross misdemeanor and Campbell could face up to a $3,000 fine and 1 year in jail if convicted.
