Brooklyn Park Unveils Crime Tip System For National Night Out
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Tuesday is National Night Out, an annual event where residents in communities across the nation get together and talk crime prevention as well as forming partnerships with police.
Many communities have events planned, and in Brooklyn Park they're using the night to unveil a new way for police to communicate with residents. The city has created a new Tip 411 line for residents to get timely crime alerts about what's happening in the neighborhood, trends in crime and give tips anonymously through a text or smartphone app.
Brooklyn Park Police purchased software to meet the demands of residents and to keep the lines of communication open between the authorities and the city.
During Tuesday's National Night Out activities, officers in the city will be handing out cards with the Tip 411 information to residents at their neighborhood parties.
