Man Shot Dead Outside Brooklyn Center Gas Station Identified As Anthony Holman Jr.
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Police say a man was shot dead outside a Brooklyn Center gas station late Wednesday morning.
It happened at about 11:18 a.m. at the Speedway off Brooklyn Boulevard and 70th Avenue North. Officers and paramedics weren't able to revive him, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man was later identified as 26-year-old Anthony Maurice Holman Jr., from Eagan. The cause of death was multiple gunshot wounds.
Investigators don't believe this was a random shooting, and they're still searching for the shooter.
Police dispelled unconfirmed reports on social media earlier in the afternoon that officers were involved in the shooting.
The deadly shooting comes on the same day city leaders announced an update to the police department's "cite and release" policy, which requires police to only issue citations for low-level offenses instead of making arrests.
