Brian Buhr Named Dean Of U Of M Ag College
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — The University of Minnesota has named Brian Buhr as dean of its College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences and director of the Minnesota Agricultural Experiment Station.
Provost Karen Hansen announced the promotion Monday. Buhr had been interim dean and director since August. His appointment is effective June 16, pending approval by the Board of Regents.
Buhr says in a statement that CFANS is uniquely positioned to address the pressing issues of sustaining food productivity and natural resources in the face of growing populations and pressures from climate change, as well as from water and energy depletion.
Buhr is an agricultural economist. His expertise is in commodity marketing, with an emphasis on livestock markets. He's been at Minnesota since 1992. The Iowa native earned his Ph.D. from Iowa State.
