Power Almost Fully Restored After Storms In Brainerd

BRAINERD, Minn. (AP) — Minnesota Power says crews are close to fully restoring power to customers in the Brainerd area after severe storms downed trees and electrical lines.

The Duluth-based utility says crews restored power to more than 3,200 customers in the Brainerd Lakes area on Friday. Power is expected to be restored to most of the remaining 500 customers on Friday night. But some pockets of customers in the hardest-hit areas on Round Lake and northwest Gull Lake may be without electricity until Saturday afternoon.

The storm hit Thursday morning, knocking out power to about 4,400 Minnesota Power customers in the Brainerd area.

Nearly 60 utility and contract workers restored lines and replaced 40 power poles broken by fallen trees during the storm.
