Boy OK After Cable Snaps On Wisconsin Dells Theme Park Ride

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A Minnesota family is thankful their son is alive after a ride malfunction at Wisconsin Dells.

Trevor Larson was on the "Catapult" ride at Mount Olympus Water and Theme Park on Wednesday when one of its cables suddenly snapped.

The metal cable that snapped was the the one that was supposed to shoot riders 200-feet into the area at about 60 miles per hour.

"I heard the loud noise but I didn't know what was going on," Trevor said.

"I was numb. You saw this cable and this metal piece coming at your son. And it was so fast. And you were expecting him to go in the air and all of a sudden everything was coming back at you," Trevor's mother, Nicole Larson, said.

The Larson family, who are from Tracy, Minnesota, said after the incident the ride operator only offered them tokens for a different ride.

The park shut down the ride for the day.

It's now reportedly back open.
