Cyclist Fatally Struck By Light Rail Train In Minneapolis

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A biker was hit and killed by a light rail train on the blue line Tuesday evening, according to Metro Transit officials.

It happened at around 6:45 p.m. near the 42nd Street intersection. By the time first responders arrived at the scene, the man was dead.

A Metro Transit official says it does appear the warning arms were down and bells sounding when the northbound train hit the cyclist, and investigators aren't sure why he was on the tracks.

This is a developing story. Stay with WCCO for the latest updates.
