Bite Of Minnesota: One-Pot Sticky Wings

It's hard to believe that the Super Bowl has already come and gone. I'm not much of a football fan but I do enjoy the rituals of Super Bowl Sunday such as menu planning, a lazy Sunday, and an excuse to eat copious amounts of queso dip -- yes, the Velveeta + Rotel kind.

This year we had adults and children over for the first half of the game so we planned a varied menu of fruit and vegetables, pigs in a blanket, bruschetta, queso dip, chocolate covered pretzels and chicken wings. It was my first time making wings and while I wanted to share this recipe last week, I figured it would be best to share after the fact, provided they turned out. Sure enough, they were amazing.

The recipe for One-Pot Sticky Wings comes from Andrew Zimmern, who was pumping out Super Bowl friendly recipes over the last few weeks on his social media channels. Chef AZ was headed to San Francisco to host the Taste of the NFL, an event raising money for hunger relief organizations across the US along with local star chefs like our own Thomas Boemer from Corner Table and Revival. Definitely an event to keep in mind when Minneapolis hosts the Super Bowl in 2018.

The wing recipe took a little prep work as I rounded up the ingredients: oyster sauce from Whole Foods, chicken wings from Lowry Hill Meats and spices from Penzey but it all came together quickly the day of the game. Not only were they delicious, but they were true to their name: sticky. Our group laughed as we had sauce smeared on our cheeks and laughed even more when we found pools of tasty sauce on the table and floor. I can't wait to make these again! Get the recipe here.
