No Sign Of Bird Flu As $8M Testing Lab Opens

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Last year's bird flu epidemic killed nearly 10 million turkeys and egg-laying chickens in Minnesota.

On Thursday, an expanded poultry testing lab opened in Willmar. The new $8.5 million facility replaces the 20-year-old lab.

It's part of the state's investment in Minnesota's poultry industry and preventing the spread of disease.

So far this year, there's been no sign of the deadly bird flu.

But with fall migration underway, poultry producers and the lab are ready to respond if necessary.
