Bicyclist Pulls Gun On Another Bicyclist Near U Of M
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The University of Minnesota has issued a crime alert after an attempted armed robbery took place near the East Bank campus Thursday night.
Police say the incident happened at about 9:45 p.m. near the intersection of Harvard Street Southeast and East River Road.
The victim, who is not connected to the U, says he was riding his bicycle when he noticed he was being followed by another bicyclist near the Franklin Avenue Bridge.
The suspect, who was riding a mountain bike, pulled in front of the victim at Harvard Street and East River Road, showed a handgun and demanded his valuables.
The victim was able to bike away when a passing car distracted the suspect. He was not injured and didn't lose any of his possessions.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic man between 20 - 25 years old. He has straight, medium-length black hair and brown eyes. He was wearing baggy pants and a red shirt.
