Join the community of Wayzata in Heritage Park to remember the veterans on November 11. Heritage Park consists of several memorials, benches and walkways designed to honor the veterans of the community. Supported by the Lake Minnetonka Chapter of the Daughters Of The American Revolution, this Veterans Day event allows families to honor their own veterans and participate in planting a flag as a show of appreciation. A social hour follows the event.

Gather in a sacred place to remember those that have served in the military and many who have given their lives to defend our country. Military personnel and veterans will be present to offer a moment of observance and peace. There will be music and a bagpipe serenade at the service to accompany speakers and rifle volleys.

Each year, the high school in Apple Valley puts on a recognition and information program to honor the veterans of Dakota County, Minnesota. All veterans, as well as those on active duty, are welcome to attend the assembly. The celebration pays tribute to those who have served in the United States military and those currently serving. Coffee and snacks are served to those that attend and the program focuses on the importance of the military.

In the southern Minnesotan area of Winona, a small program and 24-hour vigil takes place every year on Veterans Day. Starting at 11 a.m. in Veterans Memorial Park, Civil War re-enactors take the stage for a demonstration followed by speakers and prayers to honor veterans. The park itself is a wonderful place to visit on this day, as it is filled with monuments to remember those who were of service to this country. Marble bricks set on the walkways of the park contain engraved names of those to be remembered.

Brit's Pub, a European-style bar and restaurant, hosts a celebration each year on Veterans' Day to remember the signing of the armistice at the end of World War I. The treaty signified peace between Germany and the Allied Forces, ending the war and bringing the soldiers home. Guest speakers provided by the Alliance Francaise are invited to the second floor club room, and the public is invited to join in the celebration of peace.
