"Cinco de Manny" cooking class is back," says Becky George, Midtown Global Market Cultural Events and Property Manager. Kitchen in the Market's guest Chef, Manny Gonzalez, of Manny's Tortas, will show you how to make popular Mexican cuisine. "Mexican vendors, La Loma Tamales, Manny's Tortas, A la Salsa, Taqueria los Ocampo, Fiesta in America and many of the others in the Market will have Cinco de Mayo themed promotions throughout the week," adds Becky. This should be a great place to go for Mexican groceries, piñatas and gifts. You can stop by to enjoy a margarita or just grab a takeout order.

"The Ramirez family is back with the WCCO Viewers' Choice Taqueria Del Buen Pastor food truck for our Third Annual Cinco de Mayo Celebration," says Barbara Woida, Chamber President. Barbara explains that even though the family opened a new restaurant, the truck will be back this summer. The salsa is not only on your taco, as a locally popular Hispanic DJ will add to the fun with spicy mariachi, meringue, salsa, and Latino music. This popular Chamber of Commerce event drew over 400 participants last year and is growing every year, says Barbara. Expect the same family fun of piñatas, games and activities for kids. Local businesses and organizations will also participating in the festive event.

Go to West St. Paul for Minnesota's mammoth daylong Cinco De Mayo festival. The event opens with a Menudo 5k Family Run at 8:15 a.m. and a parade at 10:00 a.m. Three stages power up at noon with live entertainment, followed by an El Grito Contest, Jalapeno Eating Contest. A fourth stage showcases local businesses where you can learn about fashion, personal care, K9s and cake decorating. Grab some hot food and cold beverages and run down to the Sports Zone at State Street for MN United FC Soccer Clinics. Nobody does Lowriders like the Car, Truck and Bike Show. Find them near El Mercado on Cesar Chavez Street. St. Paul Heritage Foundation asks you to buy a button, attend the festival and show your support for the West Side of St Paul.

The overall winner is awarded a Mexican themed basket of goodies, and every contestant gets post-race bottled water and tacos. These crispy, crunchy delicacies are supplied by Casa Lupita of White Bear Lake. The Castellanos family of Guadalajara, Jalisco Mexico established this restaurant a decade ago and race promoters tout it as "home of some of the best Mexican food in the state." Run hard, because the warm tacos should arrive around 10:30 a.m. This Multi-Sport season opener is a Run-Bike-Run event.

Cinco de Mayo has been celebrated on East Lake Street since 1997. With more than 60,000 attending every year, organizers bill it as the largest Latino event in Minnesota. Indulge in piquant Mexican foods and cool brews. Hearken to the live music. Thrill to the vibrant music of Mariachi bands traveling all the way from Mexico. Admire the Azteca dancing groups, traditional Mexican Chinelo costumed dancers and folkloric groups. Laugh to the antics of the clowns. Cheer for the mechanical bull riders and professional wrestlers. Kids will like to ride the ponies, get their face painted and jump in the Bouncy Houses. Look for Mexican products, Latino services, raffles, gifts and surprises.
