Man Charged For 2-Year-Old's Drowning Death In Bemidji
BEMIDJI, Minn. (AP) — A Bemidji man has been charged in the drowning death of his 2-year-old foster daughter.
Court documents say 38-year-old Nathan Jackson Sr. told police that the toddler, Kira Friedman, soiled herself Sunday so he put her in a laundry tote in the shower and then left the room. He told investigators that when he returned, the bin was full of water. He said the child was breathing but didn't seem normal, and he dressed her and put her back in bed.
Police say the girl was dead when first responders arrived.
Jackson was charged Wednesday with second-degree manslaughter.
The criminal complaint says Jackson was the girl's foster father, that and he and his fiance also have five children of their own.
It's not clear if he has an attorney.
