Bee-Keeping On Union Depot Rooftop

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- If you see any bees buzzing around St. Paul they might be heading home to an unlikely place. There are five hives on the rooftop of the Union Depot with about 10,000 bees each.

Their honey is used to create some really tasty treats like Mademoiselle Miel's specialty honey bon bons.

Jason DeRusha and Kylie Bearse stopped by to help Susan Brown check in on the bees behind Beeline Honey. After cracking open the hive, Brown was able to see the progress.

"To see that the bees are healthy, active and that the population is growing," Brown said. "This tells me that there's a lot of dandelions blooming for one. There are some things that are blooming and it's a great way to start the season."

Brown will harvest the honey in September, but you can buy the Beeline Honey and chocolate bon bons at the Union Depot and online.
