Man Flown To Hospital After Battle Lake Bar Shooting

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Officials in central Minnesota say a 28-year-old man was flown to a hospital early Sunday morning after being shot outside a bar.

Police say the shooting happened shortly after 1:30 a.m. outside the Rusty Nail bar on Lake Avenue in Battle Lake.

Phillip Kaste, of Battle Lake, suffered a single gunshot wound. Emergency crews flew him to a Fargo-area hospital for treatment.

At this time, his condition is unknown.

Officers arrested 48-year-old Michael Spidle shortly after the shooting at his Battle Lake home, police say.

Spidle is being held in Otter Tail County Jail pending attempted murder charges.

The shooting remains under investigation.
