Bank Manager Charged For Taking Nearly $20K In Fraudulent Loans
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A Minnesota bank manager is facing charges after she admitted to taking out loans in customers' names and taking the money for personal use.
According to the criminal complaint, a manager at Share Point Credit Union at 13735 Round Lake Boulevard in Andover, Minnesota, reported a theft to police in September 2015.
The manager told police branch manager Amanda Leger had taken out three separate loans in actual customer's names and kept the money for personal use. The manager said Leger would intercept any communications about these loans so the customers would not discover them. She was also paying back the loans personally to avoid suspicion.
Once the bank discovered what Leger was doing, they confronted her and she confessed. She told the bank she had a gambling and drinking problem and that is why she took out the loans.
Leger took out a total of $19,905 in loans from three customers -- $8,500 from one, $7,000 from another and $4,405 from a third. All three customers were notified of the loans and confirmed they did not apply for them.
Leger is charged with theft and identity theft.
