Back to the '50s rolls onto the Minnesota State Fairgrounds

ST. PAUL, Minn. --  Car lovers will be in their element this weekend in St. Paul, where the annual MSRA Back to the 50's car show is underway.

Hundreds of classic cars drove through the gates at the Minnesota state fairgrounds on Friday morning, and WCCO-TV's cameras captured the scene. All of the cars that will be on display are passenger production trucks and cars made before 1965.

While the cars themselves attract a crowd, so do some beloved Minnesota State Fair foods.

"Sweet Martha's cookies, they're open and pumping the cookies out," said MSRA spokesman Dale Sohlstrom. "You'll see people with the cookie buckets walking around all weekend."

Sohlstrom, who's attended the car show for the last 30 years, says that Back to the 50's is the second-biggest event to happen on the fairgrounds, behind only the Great Minnesota Get-Together.

Visitors can see the classic cars throughout Father's Day weekend. The show will be run from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday and from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.
