After Pursuit Terminated, Suspect Causes 5-Vehicle Crash; 1 Dead
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Minnesota State Patrol says a woman is dead after causing a five-vehicle crash in Wright County earlier this month.
According to the state patrol, a vehicle involved in an earlier property damage crash in South Haven was located on the late afternoon of Tuesday, June 7. Authorities pursued the vehicle when it failed to stop for them and continued eastbound on Highway 55 from Annandale.
Officers terminated the pursuit as they approached Maple Lake. The suspect then caused a five-vehicle crash.
On Monday, June 20, the crash was upgraded to a fatal crash. According to the state patrol, the deceased person and driver of the vehicle that failed to stop is identified as 73-year-old Barbara Belka of Rockville. She was driving a 1998 Oldsmobile Regency.
The other people involved are as follows: Steven Voigt, 55, of St. Cloud suffered non-life threatening injuries and was driving a 2004 Chevy Classic; Mark Rieger Borer, 20, of Annandale suffered non-life threatening injuries and was driving a 2012 Chevy Malibu; Julie Meyer, 40, of Maple Lake was driving a 2014 Ford Fusion and had no documented injuries; and Wayne Paler, 39, of Annandale suffered non-life threatening injuries and was driving a 2014 Chevy Equinox.
