MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Andy Ten Eyck is one of those players who worked his way to a spot in Orono's line-up, and he works just as hard in the classroom.
And while his hopes of a state title recently came to an end, his team put up a valiant effort. And his basketball career has been satisfying.
"It's been kind of a journey," he said. "There's no other place I'd rather be. Orono's basketball program is the best in the state."
His coach, Barry Wohler, will remember a well-rounded kid who wouldn't give up.
"He's a 33 ACT kid, he's been accepted to Northwestern," Wohler said. "He was our point guard and leading rebounder, but growing up he was not always on the A-level teams in youth basketball."
But then he kept working...and he grew to be 6-feet, 3-inches tall.
He does all those things a coach loves that you can't teach," Wohler said. "The intangibles: offensive rebounds, makes the right pass at the right times, and he is a leader."
