As St. Thomas Academy Players Prep For 5A Final, The Moment Is Not Lost
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Saturday is the 5A championship game at the Prep Bowl, and it's shaping up to be very good.
That means St. Thomas Academy had a chance to go outside on a mostly gorgeous week for football. The Cadets know they wlll have to be physical against the Knights.
They also understand these opportunities to play for a state title are precious, and to be cherished.
"It doesn't get old," Head Coach Dave Ziebarth said. "And you appreciate it all the time. I think when you've been there a couple times, you also understand just how magical it is."
Ziebarth said he saw one of his players looking dismayed on the bus recently, and asked him what was wrong.
"I said, 'Are you okay?' and he said, 'Yeah, I just can't believe it actually happened. We did it.'"
That game will conclude the Prep Bowl at 4:00 p.m. Saturday at TCF Bank Stadium.
