Arrest Made In Weekend Assault Near U Campus

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – University of Minnesota police say they've made an arrest in connection to a weekend assault near campus.

The assault happened to a university student around 4 a.m. Saturday morning near the intersection of Huron Boulevard and Delaware Street Southeast.

The victim reported that she was waiting at the Stadium Village light rail station when a man approached her. He initiated small talk and began following the victim.

When the woman was outside her apartment, the man threw her to the ground and began punching her. The victim fought back, and the suspect fled.

On Wednesday, university police said they made an arrest and the suspect, who has yet to be identified, is in the Hennepin County Jail.
