Amy Pagnac's Mother, Sister Thankful For Thorough Investigation

MAPLE GROVE, Minn. (WCCO) -- The family of Amy Pagnac talked Thursday about what officers took when they searched the family home last week.

The Maple Grove 13-year-old went missing in Osseo in 1989. But just last week investigators did a thorough search of her childhood home.

Susan Pagnac, Amy's mother, says she's been cleaning since officers stopped searching. She said it was a welcome intrusion.

"I think they went through everything, but they should," she said.

Two-and-a-half decades after her oldest daughter went missing, Pagnac says her daughter's room was meticulously sifted through.

"They took a lot of Amy's art and schoolwork papers, notes, things, a lot of the stuff that Amy had, they took," she said.

They even took some of Amy's baby teeth.

Pagnac says she's been begging for a thorough investigation like this.

"I have to be honest, and I probably need to apologize," she said. "I haven't always been very nice to them in the last five years."

Now she's grateful others are paying attention to the pain her family's been living with.

Susan Pagnac Jr. has lived most of her life as an only child. She says as much as her parents tried, life just isn't the same.

She says her older sister was protective and she has loving memories of watching movies together and doing homework.

"The best thing is, she comes home," the younger Pagnac said. "So we can heal."

The family says they have nothing to hide.

However, the elder Pagnac says investigators didn't tell her much after they ended the search.

The search warrant was vague, and she hopes to sit down with authorities soon.
