Alexandria Police: Man With Samurai Sword Threatens Store Employee

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Alexandria police say they arrested a man who threatened a store employee while possessing a samurai sword Wednesday.

Shortly after noon Wednesday, police responded to a reported fight in progress at a business located at 4617 State Highway 29 South.

When officers arrived, they determined that a "somewhat disgruntled" man wearing a button up shirt and shoes entered the store carrying a samurai sword and threatened one of the employees. During the incident, the sword was contained in its carrying sheath and was never brandished in a threatening manner, but he had possession of the sword and threatened to kill the store employee.

Details are limited, but the man was then subdued by the store employee until officers arrived.

The man is in custody and formal charges are pending.
