Sen. Al Franken On 'Hamilton' Cast's Pence Comments

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Minnesota Sen. Al Franken spent Saturday morning in Plymouth visiting the manufacturing company Buhler, to talk to company officials about their employee training program.

Franken told WCCO his thoughts on the cast of the hit Broadway musical "Hamilton" sending a message to Vice President-elect Mike Pence, who attended the show Friday night.

He says it was a way for the cast to tell the vice president-elect what the show is about.

"It's about the founding of America and about what our founding principles are, and those founding principles are we don't have religious tests. And to keep in mind everybody," Franken said.

Franken was in town for National Apprenticeship week.

The senator is the lead Democrat on the labor and employment subcommittee and has made workforce training a top priority.
