After Falling Out, Dayton And Bakk Try To Patch Things Up
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Senate Majority Leader Tom Bakk says he and Gov. Mark Dayton had a private chat where the Capitol's two most powerful Democrats committed to moving on after a public feud.
Bakk and Dayton spoke at the governor's residence Wednesday where they and other legislative Democrats were gathered for a meeting. They hadn't talked in the nearly two weeks since Dayton lashed out at Bakk as untrustworthy for moving to squelch commissioner pay raises; Bakk has called it a miscommunication.
Dayton's office didn't immediately offer its take on the meeting.
Bakk says the pair has "way too much work to do to be at odds with each other this session."
Bakk and Dayton plan to hold a joint news conference next week to refocus attention on a transportation funding plan.
