After Car Chase, Sheriff's Dept. Gives Twitter Tagalong

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – After an overnight car chase, the Chisago County Sheriff's Office took to Twitter to give users a virtual tagalong experience.

The department live-tweeted the aftermath of an arrest following a domestic assault call Saturday night in Nessel Township. A press release from the sheriff's department said that officers used a PIT maneuver to stop a fleeing suspect.

The squad cars involved in the maneuver sustained heavy damage, and one deputy suffered a sprained thumb.

The suspect, identified as 46-year-old Patrick Elmer Lemke, was arrested and booked into the county jail on charges of domestic assault, DWI and fleeing a peace officer.

The Twitter feed of the sheriff's department documented the process of towing the damaged squad cars, getting a search warrant for a blood draw and booking the suspect into jail.

The tweets are all tagged "#tweetalong" and have a generally cheery tone.
