A Call Out To Lifeguards In The Dead Of Winter
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Ramsey County Parks and Recreation is looking for lifeguards.
They need help at Battle Creek Waterworks and the county's five guarded swimming beaches at Long Lake Regional Park, Tony Schmidt Regional Park, Vadnais-Snail Lakes Regional Park, Lake Josephine County Park and Lake McCarrons County Park.
Mark Van Gerpen is with the park and recreation department.
"The reason we're hiring right now is that we have certification classes going on in the month of March and we want to be sure all of our lifeguards have a chance to become Ellis certified," Van Gerpen said.
He says they will offer two separate Jeff Ellis and Associates training courses.
"It's always kind of difficult to get people interested this early in the season, but summer isn't really that far away," he said. "We want to make sure we get the word out as soon as possible."
He says lifeguards are expected to work full-time hours throughout the summer season, which begins June 6.
