Police: 57-Year-Old Woman In Custody After Standoff

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 57-year-old woman is in custody after a standoff in her home Friday night, according to Bloomington Police.

Police were called to the 8500 block of Blaisdell Avenue regarding a domestic disturbance. Once they arrived, an adult male told them his wife was in mental distress and assaulted him before he left their home and called the police.

The man was not injured and told police his wife may have weapons in the home, authorities said.

Police set up a perimeter and contacted the suspect by phone. She refused to come out.

The Bloomington Emergency Response Unit was brought in to assist. Negotiators eventually convinced the suspect to surrender peacefully.

At 9:15 p.m., police took the woman into custody. She is being held on domestic assault charges at Bloomington Jail, according to police.
