5 Charged In Faribault Hogtie Assault Incident

FARIBAULT, Minn. (WCCO) -- Four men and three women are accused of hogtying a man and assaulting him in Faribault Saturday.

Police charged John Paul Thompson, 40; Pedro Lee Padilla, 42; Jason Erin Madow, 35; Ashley Kay Juelfs, 26; and Jacob Daniel Glende, 25, each with 3rd degree assault and 1st degree aggravated robbery.

Police first found the victim -- a 24-year-old Faribault man -- after a concerned citizen brought him to District One Hospital, where he told officers that he had been "hogtied" and assaulted for about 90 minutes.

The victim told police the attack began when the suspects grabbed him from a vehicle and took him to a Faribault residence. Later, the victim says the suspects took him to another residence where the assault continued. Eventually, he was released and taken to the hospital.

Two of the suspects were arrested on Monday, May 25, on unrelated charges. Police were able to arrest and charge the other three suspects after exercising a search warrant at two Faribault residences, where they discovered blood evidence and items belonging to the victim.

Faribault Police Chief Andy Bohlen said in a press release that the victim and assailants knew each other, and there is no evidence the incident was a random crime.
