4 Things To Know: Orlando Shooting Latest, Possible Nurses Strike & More

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- From the mass shooting in Orlando to a possible nurses strike in the Twin Cities, here are the four stories to know from Monday, June 13.

Victims In Orlando Mass Shooting

More friends and families will learn Monday whether their loved ones died in the worst mass shooting in recent years.

At least 50 people were killed and more than 50 hurt when a gunman opened fire with a semi-automatic rifle in a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida early Sunday morning.

Law enforcement officials say the gunman called 911 and pledged allegiance to the Islamic State right before he started shooting.

Possible Nurses Strike In Minneapolis

Contract talks will get underway Monday in the hopes of avoiding a strike by nearly 5,000 Minneapolis nurses.

Negotiators from the Minnesota Nurses Association and Allina Health will meet at the request of a federal mediator.

The nurses rejected Allina's latest contract offer -- saying it would shift too much of the company's health care costs to them.

Union leaders have set a one-week strike to start June 19.

Tony Awards

The hip hop musical Hamilton took top honors at last night's Tony Awards, winning best musical.

The show raked in 11 wins, but did not break the record for the most Tonys.

That was set in 2001 by the Producers.

In response to the Orlando shooting, the "Hamilton" cast did not use muskets in its performance.

Penguins Are Champions

The Pittsburgh Penguins are the new Stanley Cup champs.

They beat San Jose 3 to 1 in Game 6 Sunday night.

This championship came 7 years to the day after the Penguins beat Detroit for their third title.
