4 Things To Know For Dec. 25, 2015
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Here's a look at the four things you need to know for Dec. 25, 2015.
Number One: Christmas Tornadoes
The death toll has climbed to 14 after tornadoes hit Mississippi, Tennessee and Arkansas.
Northern California also saw its share of tornadoes.
On the East Coast, there were record-breaking temperatures. Some parts saw up to 70 degrees on Christmas Eve.
Number Two: Credit Card Scam
Five men from Las Vegas are spending Christmas behind bars in Minnesota. They were arrested this week in Eagan.
Prosecutors say the men were using stolen credit cards to buy thousands of dollars' worth of gift cards.
The Dakota County Attorney suspects it is part of a broader ring to use cloned credit cards containing stolen numbers, but with the criminals' own names.
Number 3: Merry Moon
There is a rare Christmas Day full moon, and it's the first time this has happened since 1977.
This phenomenon is called a "full cold moon," because it happens during the start of winter.
When will we see the next full moon on Christmas? 2034.
Number Four: Looking Ahead For The Vikings
There are a lot of interesting storylines to discuss with the Minnesota Vikings.
The team practiced indoors on Thursday, gearing up for Sunday's primetime game against the New York Giants.
The Vikings could make it into the playoffs even before taking the field, based on the outcome of two other games.
If that happens, fans will watch closely to see if coach Mike Zimmer pulls some starters for the following week's game against the Green Bay Packers. That game would decide who wins the NFC North.
Also, this Sunday's game is the final regular season game at TCF Bank Stadium. U.S. Bank Stadium opens next year.
