MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – From the bitter cold gripping the state of Minnesota to the bombing in Istanbul that left 10 dead, here is a look at the top four stories for Jan. 12, 2016.
Tuesday marks the fourth day below zero in Minnesota.
After a mild December, some are unprepared for the subzero temps and high wind chills. As temperatures continue to drop the Salvation Army is opening up warming centers as a refuge from the cold.
Conditions are expected to improve by Wednesday afternoon.
At least 10 people were killed, and 15 others were hurt, in a blast that struck Turkey Tuesday morning.
Officials said it appeared to be a suicide bombing, and ISIS may be to blame. The Deputy Prime Minister said the bomber who carried out the attack is a 28-year-old Syrian National.
In the past year, Turkey has been hit by a number of attacks including two suicide bombers detonating bombs outside a train station that killed 100 people in October.

Are Pennies And Nickels Worth It?
It costs the federal government a pretty penny to make nickels and pennies. So the big question is: are those jingling coins worth it?
The Government Accountability Office said it costs about 1.7 cents to make the $0.01 penny. And it cost about $0.08 to make a $0.05 nickel.
The government blames rising metal prices for the costs to mint the somewhat useless change.
