MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- From the latest in the Minnesota protests to preparations for the GOP convention, here are the four stories to know for Monday, July 11.

Local Protests Over Philando Castile

Demonstrators prepare for another day of protests for Philando Castile.

Over the weekend, peaceful protests in St. Paul turned violent. They took their message from the governor's mansion to Interstate 94, which had to close for five hours.

Police say they arrested more than 100 people and 21 officers were injured.

Dallas Latest

Parts of downtown Dallas remain closed Monday morning as authorities continue investigating last week's deadly ambush on police officers.

Dallas police say the gunman, Micah Johnson, laughed and taunted officers during two hours of negotiations following the attack.

A debate is now brewing over the department's decision to use a remote controlled robot to kill the former Army reservist who killed five officers.

GOP Convention Preps

GOP party leaders and delegates hold their first meeting in Cleveland today to hammer out the party's platform ahead of next week's convention.

Opponents of Donald Trump are expected to make a last-ditch effort to deny him the Republican nomination.

Portugal's Big Win

After a thriller over France, Portugal wins the European Cup Soccer Championship.

Playing the host country, the odds were not in their favor, especially when their captain and superstar, Christiano Ronaldo took a shot to the knee early in the first half.

He twice tried to return, but had to be taken out on a stretcher.

But in overtime, a substitute player scored to give Portugal a one to nothing win over France and their first-ever international title.
