4 Things To Do: Twins' Home Opener At Target Field
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Monday is the Home Opener at Target Field as the Twins get ready to host the Kansas City Royals.
You can still get in on freebies and fun, even if you're not going to the game. Stop by the ballpark until 9 a.m. Monday morning for a free breakfast. At noon, you can enjoy live music on the plaza and at Target Field Station.
WCCO This Morning's Ali Lucia had some other suggestions for things to try this year if you're at Opening Day.
The Food
The smell of ballpark burgers and so many other fun flavors are back this season. Jason DeRusha already was lucky enough to try all the fun flavors headed to the ballpark this season, as was our Twins blogger Tracy Perlman. She suggested trying out Darby's Bacon Tot Dish and the Red Cow burgers.
You can check out a rundown of all the best new offerings here.
The Drinks
Perlman also pointed out the craft cocktails by Panther Distillery or Du Nord.
However, the Twins organization's Chris Iles told Lucia that another place you might want to wet your whistle at the 2 Gingers Pub. Not only can you get a Big Ginger there and check out the great view, but you can also watch ballpark organist Sue Nelson playing live.
Another option? The cabana-style lounge of Barrio in the left field area, which boast space heaters for these potentially chillier first few weeks of baseball.
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
With so many ways to enjoy the game, the Twins are asking for your help when it comes to getting rid of your food and drinks. Iles said that this year, all food served at the ballpark will be served in compostable containers.
Take A Selfie
The Home Opener is sold out, so if you don't have a ticket, you probably won't be able to accomplish the first three things to do. You can, however, always snap a selfie near the giant gold glove in the main gate plaza.
