4-Month-Old Badgers Fan May Be Good Luck Charm

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The University of Wisconsin Badgers will be playing for the NCAA Title Monday night. That hasn't happened since the 1940s.

The Badgers upset the Kentucky Wildcats 71-64 Saturday night, ending Kentucky's 38-game winning streak. The Badgers will be playing the Duke Blue Devils tonight. They beat Wisconsin 80-70 back in early December in Madison.

As WISC-TV's Adam Schrager reported, most Badger fans will remember exactly where they were on Saturday night. But not Otis Christanson, because he's just 4 months old and could potentially be the youngest fan in attendance Monday night.

His parents say that he could be the team's lucky charm because every game he's been to, the team has won.

Schrager reports that little Otis, with his tricked-out noise-cancelling headphones, has made a long string of friends at games this season. And his parents hope his luck continues to hold out for at least one more game.

Nick and Jess Christanson have never had to buy their son a ticket at Kohl Center, since he sits on their laps. Schrager said that he slept in the car ride all the way for Saturday's game, and should be all set for another late night on Monday.

Duke and Wisconsin's Alumni Associations are holding official watch parties here in the Twin Cities.

The Badger's alumni group estimates 19,000 Wisconsin alums are living in Minnesota right now. The official Badger watch party will be at Bar 508, but the group is adding another party in Minneapolis at The Loop Bar.

One the other side of the court, an estimated 1,000 Duke alums live in Minnesota. They'll be gathering at Park Tavern in St. Louis Park.

One new Duke fan -- Apple Valley High School Basketball Coach Zach Goring -- will be watching the game from home cheering on Number 5, his former player Tyus Jones.
