4 taken to hospital after wrong-way crash in Eagan

EAGAN, Minn. -- A 28-year-old man is dead and three others are fighting for their lives following a wrong-way crash early Saturday morning.

It happened just after midnight on 35E near Cliff Road in Eagan. The State Patrol says a South St. Paul man driving the wrong way crashed head-on into an SUV.

The 28-year-old driver was taken to Regions Hospital with life-threatening injuries. He was later pronounced dead. The Minnesota State Patrol says alcohol was involved.

Three family members were in the SUV. All three were taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. The state patrol says they're a 60-year-old woman, a 57-year-old man, and a 25-year-old woman, all from the Albert Lea area.

It was immediately unclear the extent of their injuries.
