4 Arrested In Mankato Synthetic Drug Investigation
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Four people, including a 15-year-old boy, have been arrested and charged in connection with a Mankato, Minn. narcotics investigation involving the deaths of two people, according to police.
Police say 22-year-old Tyler Anthony Caputo, 30-year-old James Luke Inman, 20-year-old Skylar Jo Reichel-Schneider and an unidentified 15-year-old boy – all of Mankato – were arrested without incident and charged with various controlled substance violations.
In the past week, police say a 17-year-old Mankato West High School junior and a 22-year-old man died after taking the same drug, which they believe is a form of LSD. The drug, commonly called 2-C, was in a blue packet with gold crowns on it.
The victim who attended Makato West has been identified as Chloe Moses. She was found unconscious at a home Saturday and was flown to a Twin Cities hospital. She was removed from life support on Monday.
According to police, Moses' boyfriend said that the 15-year-old arrested provided the substance. During the execution of a search warrant of the boy's residence, clear pill-style capsules and the blue packets with gold crowns on it were recovered.
Police say Inman was identified as providing the substance to the second victim, Louis Folson. During his interview, Inman admitted to providing the substance to the victim and that he obtained it through Caputo. Inman said he met Caputo through his girlfriend, who knew Caputo's girlfriend, Reichel-Schnieder.
When asked if he knew the 15-year-old accused of supplying the drug to the female victim, Inman said he worked with the older brother of the 15-year-old.
Police later arrested Caputo and Reichel-Schnieder at their residence while executing a search warrant, which resulted in the discovery of more blue crown gem bags, paraphernalia and capsules of an unknown white powder.
Police say a lot of the drugs and paraphernalia were accessible to a toddler child who lived at the residence.
The arrested adults are now at the Blue Earth County Jail. The boy is being held in the Carver County's juvenile detention center.
