Temps Reach Frigid Lows Across The State, Without Wind Chill
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO/AP) — Some of the coldest air of the season has settled into Minnesota.
The bottom dropped out of readings in the northern region of the state Thursday. The community of Embarrass reported a temperature of 41 below zero. That's without the wind chill factor. Forecasters say that's the lowest recorded temperature in northern Minnesota this winter.
It was 31 below in Ely and Fosston and 28 below at Bemidji.
The National Weather Service issued a wind chill advisory for parts of Minnesota.
While many may hope that meteorological spring will bring warmer temperatures, WCCO-TV meteorologist Matt Brickman says Minnesotans will have more frigid air to endure.
"Looking long term, mid and late next week our highs are still about 20 degrees below average," Brickman said.
