3 More Confirmed Cases Brings Legionnaires' Outbreak To 20
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The Minnesota Department of Health has confirmed three more cases of Legionnaires' disease related to the outbreak in Hopkins, bringing the total to 20 cases.
As with all the previous cases, all three people live, work or were near Hopkins in the 10 days prior to when they fell ill. The most recent onset of the disease is believed to be Sept. 9 or 10.
Only one person out of the 20 has died as a result of the disease. Those affected range in age from late 20s to late 90s. Fourteen of the cases were male and 16 had to be hospitalized.
MDH is continuing to investigate a potential source of the outbreak.
