Fatal 3-Car Crash Closes Highway 7 In McLeod Co.

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A three-car accident has caused parts of Highway 7 to close in McLead County early Tuesday morning.

According to Minnesota State Patrol, a fatal crash at Dairy Avenue has shut down Highway 7 in both directions in the Lester Prairie area.

Roughly two miles of the highway is closed, from Dairy Avenue to Falcon Avenue.

Officers are currently on the scene rerouting traffic. It is unclear how much of an issue this closure will be for morning traffic.

According to the accident report, three cars were involved. The patrol says a Saturn was driving westbound on the highway when it crossed the center line and struck an eastbound Ford pickup, and then struck a second eastbound Chevy pickup head on.

The driver of the Ford, identified as a 53-year-old Hutchinson man, suffered a non-life threatening injury. The second pickup driver, a 35-year-old Silver Lake woman, was not injured.

Information on the Saturn driver is expected to be released later Wednesday.
