2 Stores In Hastings Robbed At Knifepoint

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Hastings Police are investigating after two stores were robbed at knifepoint this weekend.

Authorities say at 6:30 p.m. Friday the Hastings Tobacco Store on 1769 Market Blvd. was robbed by knifepoint. The store clerk was not injured and the suspect left with around $1,500 in cash.

The suspect is described as a heavy set white man with blue eyes, 6-foot-3 and wearing a yellow hooded coat with a dark vertical stripe on each side.

The second robbery occurred at 7:40 p.m. Sunday at Hastings Freedom Store at 1726 Vermillion St. The robbery suspect also had a knife and fled with cash. The store clerk was not injured.

The suspect in the second robbery is described as a white man, 6-feet-tall, wearing a gray hooded coat, and orange ski mask and jeans.

In both cases, authorities attempted to track the suspect using K-9, but were unsuccessful.

Officials believe the two robberies are related.
