Carjacking charges filed after 2 shot in gunfight on St. Paul street
ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Two people were injured in an exchange of gunfire in St. Paul early Tuesday morning, and one of them is now in custody and facing criminal charges.
The gunfight occurred on the 300 block of Atwater Street just after 3:30 a.m., according to the St. Paul Police Department.
On Thursday, a complaint was filed against Kyrees Darius Johnson, 22. It alleges that the victim in the incident was lured to a "sketchy" street by a woman saying she wanted to hook up.
Subsequently, the victim's car was rear-ended and two men got out to rob the victim.
But the victim had a gun, as well as a license to carry, and shot one of the two alleged robbers.

At that point, the two robbers and the girl, allegedly in a relationship with Johnson, stole the victim's car and drove Johnson to the hospital.
Johnson now faces five felony counts, ranging from first-degree carjacking to first-degree aggravated robbery. The girl involved, identified as 20-year-old Alyssa Knutson, has also been charged with four felony counts.
