2 North Dakota Residents File Suit Against Target
FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Two North Dakota residents are named as plaintiffs in a federal lawsuit against Target for the massive pre-holiday data breach.
The case filed Wednesday by Alissa Farol and Frances Lundblad seeks class-action status. They say total claims among class members total more than $5 million.
The complaint says Farol and Lundblad used credit or debit cards to pay for purchases at the Fargo Target store between Nov. 27 and Dec. 15. The class would include all shoppers whose financial information was compromised in that time period.
Target Corp. initially disclosed that about 40 million credit and debit cards may have been affected by the security lapse. The company later said hackers stole personal information from as many as 70 million customers.
The breach has resulted in several lawsuits.
